The Orquestra Sinfonica do Algarve is made up of regional resident musicians and others, contracted in accordance with the planned programme.
Founded by the principal conductor and artistic director, Maestro Armando Mota, the orchestra leader, João Pedro Cunha and the economist Ascensão Marques, aims to enable residents to enjoy the great symphonic repertoire, and to place the cultural wealth of the region at European levels, thus enhancing the name of the Algarve nationally and internationally.
The Orquestra Sinfonica do Algarve looks to always attain the highest standards of execution,
reflected by the pattern of meticulous attention of the players. This quality is clearly visible in the
videos of the inaugural concerts of October 2021.
Since the foundation of the orchestra, the Municipal Authority of Portimão has supported the project, followed by Albufeira and Faro, as well as other public and private enterprises, both regional and national.
A Orquestra Sinfónica do Algarve é constituída por músicos residentes na região, e outros, contratados de acordo com o reportório a executar.
Fundada pelo Maestro titular, e director artístico Maestro Armando Mota, pelo concertino João Cunha e a economista Ascensão Marques, tem por objectivo possibilitar aos residentes usufruir do
grande reportório sinfónico, e colocar a região num patamar cultural a nível europeu, assim como projectar o nome do Algarve a nível nacional e internacional.
A Orquestra Sinfónica do Algarve procura sempre atingir um nível elevado de execução, refletindo-se no padrão de exigência dos seus executantes. Essa qualidade está patente nos vídeos dos
concertos inaugurais de Outubro de 2021.
Desde a sua fundação que a Orquestra Sinfónica do Algarve tem sido apoiada pelo Município dePortimão, seguindo-se Albufeira, e Faro, contando com o apoio de outras entidades publicas eprivadas, regionais e nacionais.
A Direcção Artística da Orquestra Sinfónica do Algarve está a cargo do seu Maestro titular, Armando Mota que há mais de 18 anos faz programação, sendo responsável pelas estreias mundiais de inúmeras obras de compositores portugueses desde Bernardo Sassetti, a Mário Laginha, e Jorge Salgueiro entre muitos.
É o responsável pelas primeiras audições de obras de Mahler, Rachmaninoff, Carrapatoso e de muitos outros compositores no Algarve. Parceiro desde a primeira hora do programa 365 Algarve nos seus quatro anos de existência através da sua Associação Artedosul, que é uma referência de qualidade no panorama artístico nacional.
Um dos seus desígnios é dar oportunidade aos novos talentos de se apresentarem tanto na área das artes performativas como na composição.
A Orquestra Sinfónica do Algarve, tem também esse desígnio, fazendo estreias mundiais, e dando oportunidade aos novos talentos que tenham qualidade e mérito para se apresentarem profissionalmente com a Orquestra.
The Artistic Direction of the Orquestra Sinfónica do Algarve is held in the charge of the principal conductor, Armando Mota, who has been responsible for more than eighteen years of artistic programmes which include numerous world premieres of works by Portuguese composers from Bernardo Sassetti to Mário Laginha and Jorge Salgueiro among others.
Armando has been responsible for bringing some of the first presentations of works by Mahler, Rachmaninoff, Carrapatoso and many other composers to the Algarve.
He has been an active partner in the regional cultural programme Algarve365 from the first edition through the four years of its existence, participating through the Artedosul Association, that has become a mark of reference for quality, recognised in the national artistic panorama.
One of his purposes has been to give opportunities to new talents in both performance arts as well as composition. The Orquestra Sinfónica do Algarve also places great importance in such a design of creating world premieres and giving a platform to new talented artists of merit and quality to perform professionally with the orchestra.
